There are many areas of concern about children's use of digital devices, but the most worrisome are those related to our children's health. Normal brain development, eye health, musculo-skeletal conditions, and psycho-social issues have all been shown to be negatively affected by the overuse of screens. In this review, Laura Bowman, a member of the board of directors of Parents Across America, a national parent advocacy group, summarizes and provides links to dozens of articles and research documents related to the screen time. Some of the articles had been previously identified and cited by Cindy Eckard, the driving force behind Maryland's first-in-the nation legislation governing the use of screens in schools.
