The “Media and Young Children Action Guide” is a comprehensive guide to the detrimental effects of excessive screen time. Offering ways to counteract these effects, the guide addresses how parents can help teach their children media literacy, choose toys for their children thoughtfully, talk to their children about the negative images and stereotypes they see in screen media, and take steps to counteract the effect of excessive screen time outside of the home. The action guide also addresses how teachers can create an environment in the classroom that responds to the negative effects of media.

TRUCE (Teachers Resisting Unhealthy Children's Entertainment) creates resources for and provides information to parents and educators about the harmful effects of commercialism, media and marketing on children’s play, learning and behavior and recommends ways to counteract these effects.
